Intel Releases its Corporate Responsibility Report – Intel is responsible for approximately 50,000 jobs in Israel and 1.5% of Israel’s GDP
Intel Israel's activity in 2017 contributed to the GDP of the Israeli economy a sum of about $ 5.2 billion, which constitutes 1.5% of Israel's total GDP, according to its Corporate Responsibility Report which was released today (Monday). For the first time, Intel's report includes data which was gathered in a research conducted by the Shmuel Neaman Institute, which studied Intel's impact on the Israeli economy. According to the data, in addition to Intel's employees, Intel's activity in Israel created 50,000 jobs in 2017. In addition, the technology giant invested the enormous amount of $ 13 billion in Israel between the years 2005 and 2017 through its establishment of the Israel-based development centers and manufacturing plants.
Intel currently employs 12,000 employees in Israel, which include 1000 Mobileye employees. In 2017, the company exported about $ 3.6 billion, which constitutes about 8% of Israel's high-tech exports and purchased $ 1.5 billion worth of goods and services from Israeli companies.
"This is a special year for Intel and the State of Israel," said Yaniv Garty, CEO of Intel Israel.
Aviad Avni, CFO of Intel, exposed another interesting piece of information from the report: "During its years in Israel, Intel has made purchases of Israeli companies valued at approximately $ 18 billion. In the past year alone, Intel invested $ 15 billion in the acquisition Mobileye".
