This past Thursday, December 21st marked the opening of the 2017 Onlife International Women’s Conference, an annual symposiun dedicated to celebrating inspiring female figures who broke the boundaries and gained global recognition. The conference this year took place in partnership with the Rison Lezion municipality and convened at the city’s prominent College of Management.
The “Onlife – Making A Difference” award, which honors pioneering women who have broken the glass ceiling for others, was awarded this year to two influential women: actress and comedian Hana Laszlo and journalist and television personality Ayala Hasson.
One of the main issues discussed in the conference was the global #metoo campaign, which brought sexual harassments to the forefront of the public discourse and transformed 2017 to one of the most revolutionary years for gender equality. Journalists Linoy Bar-Geffen, Hadas Shteif, Dana Spector and Shai Golden spoke about the campaign’s next phases and debated on whether women have managed to change the conversation.
Since its establishment, Onlife’s goal has always been to generate change within the Israeli society and the feminine discourse, to push women forward, champion their successes, and spotlight inspiring role models who have carved the path for the next generation.
