TIKTOK & March of the Living

Prologue

TikTok serves as a platform for creative cultural expression, educational content, and social initiatives aimed at building a better world. At its core, TikTok values inclusivity and authenticity, creating a space where individuals can freely express themselves. Reflecting these principles, Debby Communications initiated a collaboration between TikTok and March of the Living to leverage the platform's global reach in raising awareness about Holocaust remembrance and combating antisemitism. Amid this initiative, Israel faced the "Iron Swords" War, which amplified hate speech and antisemitism worldwide. TikTok responded by intensifying its content monitoring, updating community guidelines, and creating a dedicated command center to maintain a safe and respectful environment on the platform.

Story

To go beyond content moderation, we sought to create meaningful educational engagement. Through collaboration with March of the Living, the first-ever delegation of 30 content creators from Israel, the U.S., Canada, and Europe participated in the March. These creators explored key Holocaust sites, including Auschwitz-Birkenau, listened to firsthand testimonies, and crafted authentic, moving content. Their videos resonated globally, reaching diverse audiences on a platform designed for inclusivity.

Epilogue

This project connected a heterogeneous group of content creators with millions of followers to the critical cause of Holocaust remembrance. In May 2024 alone, their content garnered over 22 million views. Beyond the March, participants continued to amplify their experiences, fostering further collaboration and awareness.
